Roy Merritt
Roy Merritt is Axon's non-executive Chairman, having joined Axon’s Board on 22 March 2004 as a
non-executive Director.
Roy is a Director of Amadeus Capital Partners, the leading European venture capital firm, where he focuses on investments in telecommunications and technology growth companies. He was previously managing partner of DB Capital Venture Partners, director of Providence Equity Partners and served as Chief Financial Officer for Esprit Telecom Group Plc. Roy also served with Apax Partners, Security Pacific Hoare Govett and started his career at McKinsey & Company Inc.
Roy brings to Axon extensive corporate finance and
mergers and acquisition experience. He received an MBA from INSEAD. He is also a non-executive director of a number of private companies as part of his role with Amadeus.Roy is 44.
Stephen Cardell
Stephen Cardell is Axon's Chief Executive Officer, having joined Axon’s Board on 2 December 2003 as Chief Operating Officer.
Stephen was previously Axon’s Commercial Director, and prior to that he was a Director of Bywater, the Business Consultancy Axon acquired in 2001. He has worked as an advisor for a wide range of national and international companies, including Orange, BP, Yell, Vodafone, Borealis, Transport for London, the NHS and United Utilities. Stephen holds business qualifications from Bath and London Business Schools. Stephen is 37.
Iain McIntosh
Iain McIntosh joined Axon’s Board on 6 November 2006 as Chief Financial Officer.
Iain has an MA in PPE from New College, Oxford and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
Iain trained with what is now PricewaterhouseCoopers in their London and New York offices. He then spent 4 years as a consultant with McKinsey & Co, and has since held CFO roles at a variety of listed and unlisted consulting and outsourcing organisations. Iain is 45.
David Oertle
David Oertle joined Axon's board on 14 September 1999 as a non-executive Director.
David is also a Director of Netia Holdings SA in Poland.
He has an extensive background in telecommunications and high technology business extending over 30 years with an impressive list of companies worldwide including AT & T, Sprint, Telstra, TechComm, and Esprit Telecom. David is 63.
Royston Hoggarth
Royston Hoggarth joined Axon's Board on 12 June 2006 as a non-executive Director.
Royston Hoggarth is Managing Director of Strategic Capital Associates Limited an investment banking boutique in the technology sector; he is Chairman of two companies, iPSL Limited and ANT PLC; a non-executive director of Axon Group plc, Swyx GmbH and Voice Objects Inc and a Venture Partner of Wellington Partners, a German based venture capital company.
Until 2005 he was Chief Executive for the UK, US and European subsidiaries of Cable & Wireless PLC. Prior to this, he worked for Logica CMG PLC for six years where he was a Managing Director, responsible for Group strategy and Chief Executive International, and before that Wireless Networks. From 1985 to 1997, Royston spent thirteen years with IBM in a variety of senior management roles. Royston is 45.
